Pierre Gorissen
Welcome to this English page about me. As you might have noticed, the rest
of the site is in Dutch. That is not only because I am Dutch, but mainly
because my audience is Dutch also. Even though a lot of the messages point to
English pages or news items, for now I decided it would be best to post my
comments about them in Dutch.
The most things I publish are in Dutch also, I didn't duplicate their
listing on this page, but if you are capable of reading Dutch, it is best to
have a look at the Dutch version of the about me page.
After working as a teacher at the school for Information Management in Venlo for about six years,
I now work as a consultant and trendwatcher for the Educational Development department of
Fontys. My main area of work is the use of IT in Education.
I represent Fontys in the
Norm
Comity Learning Technologies
of the Dutch Standards institute (
Nederlands
Normalisatie-instituut or NEN). The Dutch Norm Comity Learning
Technologies coordinates the standardisation activities for learning technologies
in the Netherlands. One of the first products of the comity was the
translation
of the draft norm for Learning Object Metadata
better known as the
LOM.
SURF Foundation
SURF is the higher education and research partnership organisation for network services and information and communications technology (ICT). Part of my time I work for SURf as a Project Manager Learning Technology. Currently my work is focussen on assessment and the re-use of tests. I represent SURF in the
IMS Global Learning Consortium and I'm the co-chair of the QTI (
Question and Test Interoperability) specification project team.
These are just the publications, presentations and posts on my blog available in
English and I have to admit, I sometimes forget to update this version of the page. But if you are able to read Dutch, you might want to have a look at the Dutch
page also.

find the screencast here in a number of different formats.

April 2004
This document consists of an example of a Learning Design based on the What is Greatness example originally created by James Dalziel from WebMCQ using LAMS. Note: The example has been created in parallel with the actual development of the Alfanet system. So no claims can be made that the example actually will work in the final system. Now
available from the OUNL DSpace system.

In June 2003,
De Digitale Universiteit (Dutch Digital University)
performed a quickscan to determine the usability of the IMS Question and Test
Interoperability (QTI) specification as a format to store questions and tests
developed for and by the consortium. The quickscan was carried out by me and the
original report is available in Dutch from
the
website of De Digitale Universiteit. The
QTI
test files
(ZIP-file 1128 kB) and an unofficial
English
translation (PDF-file, 1850 kB) of the report are available online.
The UK/NL Study Trip 2003 was the return trip of the UK Studytrip 2002. About
forty colleagues from the UK visited the Netherlands from 7 till 11 April.
During the one-day
closing
conference I presented a workshop together with Bill Olivier (CETIS) and Peter Sloep (OUNL/Fontys)
titled
From
Learning Technology Specifications to Interoperability. Sorry, no
slides available online.
In 2002, together with Ineke Lam (University of Utrecht), I coordinated the
Eduguides for the
Edutrip
2002 and edited the resulting report they wrote about the trip. The report
is available in
Dutch
and
English
online as PDF-file.
From April 21st till April 27th 2002 SURF Educatie<F> organised a study
trip to Scotland and England. Of course that resulted in a
report
(PDF-file, 909 kB) op. I co-authored a couple of the sections.
The
Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings of the
CETIS
(centre for educational technology interoperability standards) organisation
are always worth wile. During our first visit at the EC-SIG (
Educational
Content Special Interest Group) meeting in March 2002 we did a presentation
about the
ELO
project van de Digitale Universiteit. Since then there are close
contacts with the CETIS SIGs and the people involved within CETIS.
In 2001, I was one of the Eduguides during the Edutrip and author of the chapter
about
Maintaining Digital Order in the
report
from the trip (PDF-file).
